This is your opportunity to join our Linguistic Services team as a Senior Translator-Revisor. The incumbent will work remotely. Your responsibilities as a Senior Translator-Revisor include translation from English to French of various types of medical, pharmaceutical, administrative, commercial and advertising texts, as well as documents intended for the media. You will also revise different texts, mainly in French, increasingly over time. You will be responsible for responding to consultation requests from all sectors of the company and for sharing your knowledge with the other members of the team. You will also assist the other members of the Linguistic Services team in managing departmental planning tasks.
Key responsibilities:

Translate documents from English into French, making sure to preserve the content, meaning and intent of the source text. The Senior Translator-Revisor must be able to work on various documents, some of which are highly scientific, as well as high-visibility documents about AbbVie’s products and activities.

Revise translations done internally, as well as by external providers, to ensure that wording and terminology are consistent and that the proper terminology is used.

Help plan, prioritize and manage all translation and revision requests.

Provide expert advice to internal clients and colleagues in order to optimize translated material, and consult with clients and colleagues when translating in specialized fields.

Collaboratively create and update glossaries, lexicons, style guides, etc.

Participate in the management of computer-assisted translation tools and keep abreast of all innovations.

Act as a liaison with translation service providers and strategic internal clients.

Suggest and develop initiatives that promote the use of French throughout the company, in connection with the Francofête in particular.

Participate in various tasks related to the company’s francization obligations.

Collaborate in the drafting and management of various documents related to the management and operation of Linguistic Services (standard operating procedures, coordination management guide, etc.), as needed.

Help represent the interests of AbbVie Canada with the various levels of AbbVie worldwide by ensuring that solutions implemented within Linguistic Services are in line with the requirements of the Canadian business.

Contribute to the optimization of resource use. Help resolve business problems by recommending practical solutions.

Support change and innovation in collaboration with the various strategic functions of the company.
Qualifications
Education/Experience required:
-
Bachelor’s degree (BA) in English-to-French translation or the equivalent. Relevant experience combined with good knowledge of the health or life sciences field (biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry, an asset).
-
Experience in English-to-French translation (minimum of ten years).
-
Experience in comparative English-to-French revision (minimum of five years).
-
Experience translating, updating and revising product monographs (drugs and medical devices).
-
Professional certification (OTTIAQ, ATIO or equivalent), an asset.

Strong attention to detail and respect for the value and quality of language.
-
Ability to think and plan strategically (work plans, activities, timetables, targeting) and execute with excellence.

Ability to build strong partnerships with key stakeholders.

Knowledge of LogiTerm, an asset.

Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.).

Advanced proficiency in French, very good understanding of English, strong writing skills and impeccable style.
