Barista / Cook / Baker
Position Summary
We are looking for an energetic, reliable, and customer-focused Barista/Cook/Baker to join our café team. This role requires a versatile individual who can confidently prepare specialty beverages, bake and prepare food items, assist with kitchen operations, and provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, able to multitask effectively, and enjoys working as part of a team while maintaining high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
Barista Duties
- Prepare and serve coffee, espresso-based beverages, teas, and specialty drinks.
- Operate espresso machines, grinders, and other café equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain beverage quality and consistency.
- Interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
Cook & Food Preparation Duties
- Prepare sandwiches, soups, salads, breakfast items, and other café menu offerings.
- Follow recipes and food safety procedures.
- Assist with food prep, portioning, and inventory management.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace.
Baking Duties
- Prepare and bake pastries, muffins, cookies, breads, and other baked goods.
- Decorate and present products to café standards.
- Monitor baking schedules and ensure product freshness.
- Assist with recipe development and seasonal offerings when needed.
General Responsibilities
- Operate cash register and process customer transactions.
- Restock supplies, ingredients, and display cases.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety guidelines.
- Assist with opening and closing duties.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Must be able to work Saturdays
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a café, bakery, restaurant, or food service environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of coffee preparation, baking, or cooking techniques is an asset.
- Food Handler Certification is an asset.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
