Course Description/Relevant Employment Duties
This course covers modern biomanufacturing processes related to the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, and other relevant bio-based industries that rely on biotechnology solutions. Topics include upstream and downstream bioproducts manufacturing such as gene expression, genetic engineering, production of pharmaceutical proteins, bioprocess considerations in microbial cell cultures, bioreactor design, operating considerations for bioreactors, bioreactor selection and scale-up, and the strategies and techniques used in recovery and purification of products.
