Securicare is seeking Remote Healthcare Security Professionals to support our healthcare security operations in Powell River within the Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) portfolio. In this position, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors. You will be responsible for access control, proactive patrols, incident response, and working closely with healthcare teams in a fast-paced clinical setting. The ideal candidate brings strong situational awareness, professionalism, and the ability to respond effectively in high-pressure situations.
Pay Rate: $24.50/hr
Location: Qathet General Hospital, Powell River.
DutiesResponsibilities:

Monitor entry points and control access to the healthcare facility, verifying credentials and authorizing entry for authorized personnel.

Conduct regular patrols of the facility, including interior and exterior areas, to deter unauthorized access and identify potential security threats.

Respond promptly to security incidents, including medical emergencies, disturbances, and safety hazards.

Follow established protocols for emergency situations, such as lockdown procedures or evacuation drills, to ensure the safety of patients and staff.

Interact with patients, visitors, and staff in a calm and respectful manner, resolving conflicts and addressing concerns to maintain a peaceful environment.

Utilize effective de-escalation techniques to manage volatile situations and prevent escalation to violence.

Monitor security cameras, alarm systems, and other surveillance equipment to detect suspicious activity and potential security breaches.

Document all security-related incidents and observations accurately, completing incident reports and notifying appropriate personnel as necessary.

Collaborate with other healthcare staff, including nurses, physicians, and administrative personnel, to address security concerns and coordinate responses to emergencies.

Communicate effectively with external stakeholders, such as law enforcement agencies and emergency responders, to facilitate a coordinated approach to security incidents.
Requirements:

Valid BC Security Guard License and Advanced Security Training (AST) certification.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse individuals in a healthcare setting

1+ year of experience in security, preferably in a hospital or healthcare environment

Excellent observational and problem-solving skills with the ability to remain composed under pressure

Basic computer skills for report writing and incident documentation

Ability to complete detailed reports, multi-task, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment

Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays

Post-secondary education in Police Foundations, Community Justice Services, or Law Enforcement is an asset
