( Must be available and able to work all shift patterns, including days, evenings, overnight, weekends, statutory holidays, and rotating shifts based on operational needs)
HOURS .
Mornings (07:00AM – 3:00PM)
Evenings (03:00PM – 11:00PM)
Overnight (11:00PM-7:00AM)
This position requires membership in the Union.
General Job Description:
Pathway Community Services Ltd. Provides residential support services to children with a wide range of abilities and challenges, who have been diagnosed with ADHD, OCD, FASD, ASD, developmental delays , mental health issues , as well as high risk behaviours. In order to work successfully within our team, the ideal candidate should have a strong work ethic and a high standard of practice in all areas.
As well, the ideal candidate should have the flexibility and willingness to work with children who may present high risk and challenging behaviours. Availability to engage in ongoing training is needed. Managing emergency situations in a stressful environment is an ongoing expectation. Evening and weekend work is required.
Knowledge and adherence to Pathway Community Services Ltd’s policies is expected.
Responsibilities:
To collaboratively assist with the day-to-day operations of the residence in order to maintain a high standard of living within our communities
To dependably implement every individual’s plan of care exactly as written
To provide a safe, structured, educational and developmentally appropriate home environment that promotes a sense of well-being, self-confidence, belonging and independence for the individual.
To collaborate with the individuals and their larger network to pro-actively promote opportunities for inclusion in all environments.
To efficiently meet all documentation requirements within established timelines
To commit to all scheduled shifts
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with Autism OR an educational background in the Social Services or related field
Diploma and/or degree in the Social Services or related field
First Aid training
Class 5 driver’s license
Background and Experience
Experience in application and understanding of behavioural support plans
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Time management and general organizational skills
Ability to work with others
Ability to work independently
Insight into individual’s needs and specific challenges
Experience with phase escalation cycles
Experience accessing community resources
Experience in collaboratively working with a wide collateral service net
Ability to consistently follow and implement all plans of care
Ability to be a strong advocate
Work collaboratively with all members of the team and wrap around services
