The Senior Data Science Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting modern cloud-based data and analytics solutions within a Microsoft Azure environment. This role focuses on building scalable data lakehouse architectures, developing automated data pipelines, and delivering high-quality data products that enable advanced analytics and business intelligence. Working within an Agile team, the successful candidate will collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to modernize legacy data platforms, establish development standards, and deliver secure, reliable, and high-performing data engineering solutions.
- Design, develop, implement, and support cloud-based data and analytics solutions using Microsoft Azure technologies.

Architect, build, and maintain scalable data lake and lakehouse environments to support enterprise analytics initiatives.

Develop, optimize, and maintain automated data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and related Azure services.

Design and implement data models that support reporting, analytics, and business intelligence solutions.

Support the migration of legacy Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Data Factory pipelines, stored procedures, views, and Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) assets to Databricks-based solutions utilizing Delta Lake.

Develop reusable frameworks, templates, and development standards to improve consistency, scalability, and efficiency across data engineering initiatives.

Build and maintain data engineering solutions using Python and SQL while following industry best practices.

Participate in solution architecture, technical design, code development, testing, and deployment activities.

Conduct peer code reviews through GitHub to maintain code quality, consistency, and adherence to development standards.

Support CI/CD implementation and automated deployment processes for cloud-based data solutions.

Collaborate with Infrastructure, Data, BI, and business stakeholders to analyze technical requirements and recommend effective solutions.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to cloud data platforms, data pipelines, and analytics environments.

Prepare technical documentation and conduct knowledge transfer sessions to support operational readiness and ongoing maintenance.

Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and technical planning sessions.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance data architecture, governance, automation, and development practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum 5 years of experience designing, developing, and supporting cloud-based data engineering solutions within Microsoft Azure environments.

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS).

Strong experience designing and implementing enterprise data lake and lakehouse architectures.

Experience developing modern data engineering solutions using Delta Lake and Databricks Lakehouse.

Strong understanding of Medallion Architecture and modern data engineering best practices.

Experience with Azure Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, and related Azure data services.

Advanced programming experience using Python and SQL for data engineering, automation, and analytics development.

Experience designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise-scale ETL/ELT pipelines.

Experience with GitHub, source control, peer code reviews, and collaborative software development practices.

Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes for cloud-based data solutions.

Familiarity with Databricks Unity Catalog and data governance practices is considered an asset.

Experience developing data solutions that support Power BI reporting and analytics is considered an asset.

Experience assessing business and technical requirements and translating them into scalable technical solutions.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex, multi-component technical environments.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing technical documentation and delivering knowledge transfer sessions.
