Applications are invited for the position of learning facilitator with Thrive’s Educational Initiatives. The Educational Initiatives provide instruction in both foundation literacy and numeracy, as well as High School equivalency preparation for youth ages 16 to 30 in the St. John’s area.
As a learning facilitator you are creative in your work with youth who have struggled to find success in the traditional education system. You are able to use your skills to create a safe learning environment that respects a diversity of life experiences and have a passion for education as a tool for social justice
Duties include:
· Create a safe and respectful learning environment
· Nurture trusting relationships with youth who have experienced uneven educational development
· Developing and delivering individualized learning programs
· Manage class schedules
· Maintain statistics and relevant information relating to learners and program
Qualifications:
· A Bachelor of Education
· 3 years’ experience working in an education setting and/or with vulnerable/marginalized populations with a focus on differentiated instruction and support of learning exceptionalities
· Experience in restorative justice, trauma-informed education an asset
· Demonstrated commitment to community development/educational approaches that are strengths based, collaborative, and embrace harm reduction principles.
Compensation & Benefits: Starting salary for this position is $57 200.00 plus an excellent benefits package
