Hours of work: 3:45pm-7:00pm. 7 Shifts per pay including every other weekend.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Support Services Manager, the Dietary Aide provides support to the set-up, preparation, serving and clean up associated with all meal services in the Residence/Home.
Qualifications:
- Food Handler Training Certificate (CK Public Health Unit) or equivalent, or willingness to obtain the certificate as required.
- High school or post-secondary student with an interest in gaining experience in food service, hospitality, or working with older adults.
- Previous experience in food service, hospitality, customer service, or working with seniors is considered an asset but is not required.
- Demonstrates a friendly, respectful, patient, and caring approach when interacting with residents.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions, established procedures, and individual dietary requirements accurately.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrates attention to detail and a commitment to food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation.
- Reliable, punctual, responsible, and willing to learn.
- Physically able to stand and walk for the majority of the shift and perform duties such as setting and clearing tables, carrying meal trays, pushing/pulling carts, and lifting or carrying food service items.
- Willingness to attend required training, in-services, and staff meetings.
- Must be able to work respectfully within a retirement home environment and demonstrate an understanding of the importance of resident dignity, privacy, and choice.
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required prior to employment, as applicable.
- 2-step TB test
Note: Previous food service or experience working with seniors is an asset, but is not required. Training will be provided to the successful candidate.
Rate of pay: $17.60
