The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for leading the end-to-end delivery of strategic initiatives &innovation across the Canadian Cannabis business. This role oversees the innovation portfolio, product launch lifecycle management, operational excellence programs, automation initiatives, cultivation improvements, capital projects, packaging transformations, and other enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.
The successful candidate will establish project governance, drive cross-functional alignment, ensure successful execution of complex programs, and deliver measurable business outcomes. This individual will serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership while providing hands-on leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
Portfolio & Innovation Management
- Lead and manage a portfolio of innovation, product development, and strategic business initiatives across the Canadian Cannabis business.
- Partner with Commercial, Operations, Cultivation, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, and IT teams to prioritize and execute projects aligned with organizational objectives.
- Facilitate project intake, prioritization, governance, and stage-gate reviews.
Product Launch Management
- Own and govern the end-to-end product launch process from concept through commercialization.
- Coordinate activities across R&D, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Packaging, Regulatory, Sales, and Marketing.
- Ensure launch readiness through risk mitigation, timeline management, stakeholder alignment, and post-launch performance reviews.
- Establish launch frameworks, best practices, and performance metrics.
Strategic Projects & Operational Excellence
Lead complex initiatives involving:
- Cultivation optimization
- Manufacturing and processing improvements
- Packaging transformations
- Capacity expansion projects
- New machinery and equipment installations
- Automation and digital transformation initiatives
- Cost savings and efficiency programs
- Ensure projects achieve business objectives related to productivity, quality, throughput, compliance, and profitability.
PMO Leadership & Governance
- Establish and maintain project management standards, methodologies, templates, and governance processes.
- Drive project health reviews, executive reporting, risk management, and portfolio transparency.
- Promote continuous improvement and PMO maturity across the organization.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with senior leadership and functional leaders.
- Facilitate executive steering committees and project governance meetings.
- Communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and recommendations effectively to all organizational levels.
- Influence decision-making and drive alignment among diverse stakeholder groups.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, Project Management, or related field.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification required.
- MBA or advanced degree considered an asset.
Experience
- 6+ years of progressive project and program management experience.
- 5+ years leading cross-functional teams and strategic initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience managing enterprise portfolios, product launches, or large-scale transformation programs.
- Experience within Cannabis, CPG, Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage, Agriculture, or highly regulated industries preferred.
- Proven leadership experience managing strategic and operational initiatives across multiple business functions.
Technical Skills
- Strong experience with project management platforms such as Microsoft Project or Smartsheet (preferred), or Monday.com.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Power BI and Excel.
Compensation : The range for this position is 100,000 - 130,000 annually. Please note that the actual offer will be determined based on your skills, experience, education, market benchmarks, and internal equity.
