We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Immigration Lawyer to join our team as an Independent Contractor. This position offers a flexible hybrid work environment and the opportunity to work on a wide range of immigration matters, with a particular focus on refugee and litigation-related files.

About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for handling a variety of immigration matters, including:
- Refugee Claims
- Refugee Appeal Division (RAD) Appeals
- Refugee Protection Division (RPD) Hearings
- Judicial Review Applications before the Federal Court
- Pre-Removal Risk Assessment (PRRA) Applications
- Humanitarian and Compassionate (H&C) Applications
- Temporary Resident Applications
- Study Permits and Work Permits
- Family Sponsorship Applications
- Other immigration and refugee law matters as required
The role involves legal research, legal drafting, client communication, hearing preparation, advocacy, and file management.
Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be a lawyer in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (LSO)
- Be certified by Legal Aid Ontario (LAO)
- Be a member of the Legal Aid Ontario General Roster
- Be a member of the Legal Aid Ontario Appellate Roster
- Have experience practicing immigration and refugee law
- Possess strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Be capable of managing multiple files and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrate excellent client service and communication skills
- Be highly organized and detail-oriented
- Be comfortable working independently while collaborating with a team
