AVOP Trainer / Airside Operations Instructor
AAI / CASS Corp. | Toronto Pearson International Airport
Permanent Full-Time | $65,000 – $75,000 + benefits
We’re in need of someone who can transfer their hard-won knowledge to the next generation of airside drivers.
You’ve spent years operating in the airside environment at Toronto Pearson and understand the details of airside driving better than most. You know the difference between being confident and comfortable vs confident and complancent. You understand why the ATDs exist and not just what they say.
AAI/CASS is hiring a dedicated AVOP Trainer. This is a permanent, Monday-to-Friday role focused entirely on classroom instruction and practical airside coaching. You will set the standard for how vehicle operators move around one of Canada’s busiest airports and you will do it with the credibility that only comes from years of actual airside experience at YYZ.
AAI/CASS is a strategic resourcing solutions provider in the Aviation and Transportation industry. Our strategic vision is to Lead by Example in all our encounters with our employees, clients, and partners. We aim to provide the most ethical business solutions, creating optimal environments for our employees to flourish and clients to receive the service they expect. We set ourselves apart through exceptional innovation and an unwavering commitment to our craft and our people.
Why this role is different
- You recognize that you’re not “just another driver” and become the person who shapes how others drive
- Schedule flexibility
- Not only will you have direct influence on safety culture across AAI’s and CASS’ operations but influence on the external clients who send their students to us for training
- Room to grow as we expand the AVOP training we deliver outside the company
What you will actually do
- Deliver clear, practical classroom sessions on Airport Traffic Directives, airside signage, lighting, radio communications, and real-world decision-making
- Run hands-on driving instruction and formal evaluations on the airside
- Coach participants until they are genuinely ready for the GTAA written and practical exams
- Keep accurate training records and manage the full certification process
- Act as the go-to person for AVOP questions from students and operational teams
- Continuously improve how we teach based on what you see on the ground
What you will need
- Minimum 5 years of continuous DA AVOP experience at Toronto Pearson International Airport
- Deep, current knowledge of GTAA Airside Operations and the Airport Traffic Directives
- Proven ability to operate vehicles safely in the airside environment
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to teach both new and experienced staff
- Excellent organizational habits (records matter in this role)
- Previous training or coaching experience is a strong advantage and preference, however, not required if your operational credibility is solid.
The environment
You will work primarily at Toronto Pearson and at our head office conviently located nearby. Expect a mix of classroom time and practical airside sessions. This is a safety-critical environment that demands high situational awareness and professional standards every day.
