Opportunity Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Technical Advisor to oversee localized distribution activities, bulk transport maintenance, and emergency response readiness.
This contract role is ideal for an industrial industry retiree looking to leverage a career's worth of knowledge in a flexible, impactful capacity. You will serve as a vital on-the-ground technical expert, working closely with our internal sales, logistics, and management teams, as well as external service suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Emergency Response & Safety
- Serve as a Technical Advisor for the company’s off-site transportation emergency response program.
- Oversee and advise on site-specific technical safety protocols and operational compliance.
2. Distribution & Operations Management
- Act as the primary technical point of contact at designated regional distribution and partner transfer sites.
- Coordinate regular maintenance, inspections, and repair schedules for local industrial transfer equipment.
3. Fleet & Rolling Stock Maintenance
- Interface with mobile and shop service providers to manage rail tank car maintenance.
- Collaborate with NNI personel and maintenance shops to help oversee tank trailer maintenance programs.
4. Quality Control & Customer Support
- Conduct field quality control activities, including product sampling, basic quality testing, and the resolution of technical non-conformances.
- Provide targeted technical assistance and troubleshooting for select customers.
Qualifications & Experience
We are looking for a reliable professional who can hit the ground running. The ideal candidate will possess:
- Industrial Background: Extensive experience in the industrial chemical, oil & gas, or manufacturing sectors. A background that includes working with ammonia or propane systems is highly desirable.
- Dangerous Goods Expertise: Experience with the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations and safety protocols is considered a major asset.
- Technical Savvy: Proven track record in mechanical operations and fleet/equipment maintenance management (specifically rail and truck bulk transport).
- Soft Skills: Strong independent problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to confidently interface with industrial clients and service providers.
