In-Person Tutor Oakville - Gr. 8 Math
TutorShark is hiring a tutor to work one-on-one with a Grade 8 student on their math. We are looking to fill this position now, with the first session starting mid-July.
About the role
You will support a Grade 8 student developing their confidence and foundational math skills so that they feel ready going into the school year. Alongside the math itself, a big part of this role is helping the student learn how to sit down, focus, and stay with the work. The student has ADHD and an IEP, so the ideal tutor knows how to break work into manageable chunks, build in short breaks, and keep sessions active. The student learns best by doing, so a hands-on, kinesthetic approach and connecting math to their interests will go much further than long stretches of explanation.

Pay
- $25/hour for in-person sessions
What we're looking for
- Experience tutoring elementary or middle school math
- Comfort supporting students with ADHD, attention challenges, or an IEP
- A patient, kind, encouraging manner that helps a quieter student feel supported and build confidence
- The ability to keep a session structured while staying flexible with pacing and breaks
- Reliability and consistency week to week
- A valid Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain one before starting)
