Job Summary: Fuimus Construction is a growing, locally owned carpentry company specializing in residential custom builds, large-scale commercial framing/finish carpentry, and premium renovations. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated experienced/ Lead Framing Carpenter to join our crew.
We are looking for a reliable professional with proven, on-the-tools experience who can effectively oversee projects, coordinate tasks, and deliver exceptional craftsmanship. Compensation is highly competitive, and your exact starting hourly rate will be set directly according to your practical experience and demonstrated skill on site.
Responsibilities:
- Lead carpentry crews in executing complex framing tasks (walls, floors, roofs, custom stairs) accurately and to Nova Scotia building code.
- Read and interpret detailed architectural blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide structural layouts.
- Coordinate with the owner and project managers to plan work sequences, keep the pace, and address any onsite issues promptly.
- Work independently with minimal supervision to keep projects moving forward on schedule.
- Mentor junior team members and apprentices, promoting best practices in carpentry techniques and safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional job site. (Note: We strictly handle structural and finish carpentry—no plumbing, electrical, drywall mudding, tile, or HVAC work).
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience: 5+ years of dedicated framing and carpentry experience. (Previous experience as a Lead Hand or Foreman is highly preferred).
- Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting onsite challenges. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work at heights as needed.
- Tools: Must have your own complete set of hand tools and a proper carpentry belt. (Fuimus Construction provides all heavy equipment: compressors, generators, table saws, nailers, and PPE).
- Mobility: Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to various job sites around the Halifax Regional Municipality and surrounding areas.
- Mindset: Punctual, reliable, and takes pride in building square, plumb structures that stand the test of time.
- Work Authorization: Must be currently residing in the Halifax/Nova Scotia area and legally authorized to work in Canada. (Please note: We are a small local company and cannot provide LMIA or international work sponsorships at this time).
Hours & Schedule:
- Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM (Fridays until 4:00 PM).
- Roughly 44 paid hours a week.
- Paid bi-weekly via direct deposit.
- 4% Vacation pay and standard statutory holiday pay included.
