Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Manager to join the team at Station BBQ Smokehouse. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, organizational, and customer service skills, with the ability to support the daily operations of a busy restaurant. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the restaurant's success by supervising staff, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, maintaining operational efficiency, and supporting sales and business growth. Previous restaurant or hospitality management experience is highly preferred.
Duties
- Assist the Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations, ensuring efficient workflow and exceptional guest service.
- Supervise, motivate, and support restaurant staff, including assisting with recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Monitor dining room operations to ensure cleanliness, food quality, service standards, and customer satisfaction.
- Handle POS transactions, cash handling, daily cash reconciliation, and assist with administrative recordkeeping.
- Assist with payroll preparation, budgeting, and cost control to help achieve financial objectives.
- Coordinate inventory management, purchasing, and stock control for food, beverages, and restaurant supplies.
- Support the implementation of promotional campaigns, marketing initiatives, and community engagement activities to increase sales.
- Participate in interviewing and hiring new employees while promoting a positive workplace culture.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, health and safety standards, company policies, and licensing requirements.
- Address customer concerns and complaints professionally, ensuring prompt and satisfactory resolution.
- Assist in monitoring labour costs, scheduling staff efficiently, and maintaining productivity during peak business hours.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Previous supervisory or management experience in a restaurant, hospitality, or food service environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop team members.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; bilingual or multilingual abilities are considered an asset.
- Proficiency in POS systems, cash handling procedures, and restaurant operations.
- Experience with recruitment, employee training, scheduling, payroll support, budgeting, and inventory management.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Customer-focused mindset with proven problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism while handling multiple priorities and operational challenges.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations, workplace health and safety standards, and restaurant best practices.
