Responsibilities
- Conduct patient histories and perform eye assessments including visual acuity tests and intraocular pressure measurements
- Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures by preparing equipment and patient positioning
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR) systems to accurately document patient information, test results and treatment plans
- Educate patients on eye health, treatment options and post-procedure care with clear, friendly communication
- Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, verifying health insurance cards and handling patient check-in/check-out processes
- Perform diagnostic testing for glaucoma, macular degeneration and neurologic eye disease
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment while adhering to safety protocols and infection control standards
Requirements
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or ophthalmic practice preferred but not necessary
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to eye health and ophthalmology procedures preferred but not necessary
- Excellent patient care skills with a warm, professional demeanor suitable for diverse populations
- Ability to handle front desk responsibilities including scheduling and patient service
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with healthcare teams and educate patients confidently
