Job Summary
Join our dynamic landscape team as a Landscape Technician and bring outdoor spaces to life with your hands-on expertise! In this energetic role, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing Government Properties (Childrens Hospital, VGH, St Pauls) and other commercial, and public landscapes through skilled horticultural practices and landscape maintenance. Your enthusiasm and mechanical aptitude will help ensure every project is executed efficiently, beautifully, and safely. Duties
- Perform landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, trimming, pruning, hedging, planting, and mulching to keep outdoor spaces healthy and attractive
- Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment
- Install irrigation systems ensuring proper setup, testing, and ongoing maintenance for optimal water efficiency
- Conduct routine inspections of landscapes to identify issues related to pests, disease, or irrigation problems and address them promptly
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, equipment used, and materials applied to ensure quality control and safety compliance
- Support team members in troubleshooting mechanical issues with tools or machinery to minimize downtime
Requirements
- Proven experience with landscape maintenance or construction projects; horticulture knowledge is highly valued
- Proficiency in operating hand tools (shovels, pruners) and power tools (trimmers, blowers) safely and effectively
- Mechanical knowledge related to landscaping equipment such as excavators or irrigation systems
- Strong gardening skills including planting, pruning, fertilizing, and soil management
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions with physical stamina for manual tasks
- Prior experience with construction activities or site preparation is a plus
- Valid driver’s license; certification in operating heavy machinery like excavators is preferred but not required
