Jack Cewe Construction Ltd. is a privately owned, local general contractor specializing in road building and civil construction. With more than 70 years of experience in British Columbia, CEWE provides a full range of road construction services, including excavation, gravel placement, base and sub-base preparation, underground utility installation, concrete slabs, sidewalks, curbs, asphalt paving, and milling.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Dispatcher to support our construction operations. This position is responsible for coordinating daily schedules for personnel, equipment, trucking, materials, and subcontractor services to help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule. The Dispatcher will work closely with Superintendents, Foremen, Truck Drivers, Project Managers, and external vendors to support smooth day-to-day project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily scheduling of trucking, equipment operators, and equipment based on input from Foremen and Superintendents.
- Equipment moves with internal lowbed truck. Outsourcing moves when necessary.
- Schedule and coordinate subcontractor services such as fuel delivery, toilets and signage.
- Communicate changes to job site locations with all employees and subcontractors.
- Monitor rental equipment and notify Project Managers of any long-term rentals.
- Maintain an up-to-date log of equipment locations.
- Liaise with Foremen and Superintendents to coordinate material orders and delivery schedules.
- Assisting with dispatch for internal and external flagging needs.
- Approve and enter trucking tickets.
- Attend all internal pre-construction meetings to help review and assess trucking, gravel and asphalt supply.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the construction industry; prior dispatch or scheduling experience is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of heavy construction operations and dispatch practices is preferred.
- Exceptional time management and multitasking abilities with a track record of meeting deadlines.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of building positive relationships across all levels.
- Familiarity with construction materials, tools, and job site operations.
