Klassen Greenhouse Farms Inc. is seeking a highly organized and motivated Greenhouse Labour Manager to lead workforce planning, employee training, labour execution, and performance management across our greenhouse operation.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, this position works closely with Growers and Supervisors to understand crop labour requirements and develop labour plans that ensure production activities are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. The Labour Manager is responsible for ensuring labour plans are properly executed, employees are trained and productive, supervisors are supported and developed, and quality expectations are consistently achieved.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Labour Planning & Execution
- Meet regularly with Growers to understand labour requirements and production priorities.
- Develop daily, weekly, and seasonal labour plans based on crop demands.
- Allocate labour resources effectively across departments.
- Monitor labour progress throughout the day and adjust plans as necessary.
- Ensure assigned tasks are completed on time and according to production requirements.
- Track labour performance against planned targets and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Work with Supervisors to ensure labour plans are executed efficiently and effectively.
Training & Development
- Develop and maintain training materials, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure employees are properly trained before performing assigned tasks.
- Assist with the development, coaching, and training of Supervisors and Team Leaders.
- Identify skill gaps and implement training plans to improve workforce performance.
- Maintain training records and monitor employee competency levels.
Performance Management
- Monitor employee productivity, attendance, and work quality.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and coaching sessions.
- Address performance concerns through coaching, documentation, and corrective action processes.
- Work with Supervisors to establish clear expectations and accountability standards.
- Recognize and develop high-performing employees for future advancement opportunities.
- Support disciplinary processes in accordance with company policies and employment legislation.
Quality Control
- Establish and maintain quality standards for labour activities.
- Conduct regular quality inspections and audits.
- Ensure work is completed according to company standards and crop requirements.
- Investigate quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
- Develop systems to improve consistency, efficiency, and overall quality performance.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Support Supervisors with labour planning, employee management, and problem solving.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Identify opportunities to improve labour efficiency, productivity, and quality.
- Participate in operational planning and workforce development initiatives.
- Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous greenhouse, agricultural, or production leadership experience.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
- Experience managing labour resources and workforce planning.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Experience with labour tracking and productivity systems considered an asset.
- Spanish language skills considered an asset.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.

SCHEDULE
- Monday to Saturday.
- On-call as required to support operational needs.
- Additional hours may be required during peak production periods.
