John & Mark Heins Farms is a Family Farm business, located 10 minutes North of Lethbridge Alberta. Our Family has three generations and has been operating for over 65 years. We pride ourselves on long term employment and long-term relationships.
We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our farm and feedlot operation. This role is responsible for leading financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and day-to-day accounting functions while supporting management with clear financial insight and practical business advice.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
· Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial analysis.
· Maintain strong internal controls and support compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
· Work closely with ownership and management to support operational and strategic decision-making.
· Oversee accounting processes, reconciliations, payroll support, and related administrative functions.
· Liaise with external accountants, financial institutions, and other business partners as required.
Qualifications
· CPA or equivalent designation required.
· Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field.
· Strong financial reporting, budgeting, and analytical skills.
· Experience with Syndicate Banking, in agriculture, livestock, feedlot, or related industries is considered an asset.
· Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
· Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, hands-on approach.
