Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Fleet Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair our modern fleet of heavy-duty vehicles and specialty pavement marking equipment. This role is based entirely out of our Port Perry facility and does not require travel. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring fleet reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy-duty trucks and specialty pavement marking equipment
- Help with major retrofit and overhaul projects
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
- Maintain fleet maintenance records and service logs
- Ensure all equipment meets safety standards and Ministry of Transportation requirements
- Coordinate repairs to minimize downtime during peak operating seasons
- Operate shop equipment and tools safely and efficiently
- Safely operate a forklift to move materials, parts, and equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Communicate equipment issues and repair timelines with operations staff
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy-duty vehicles and/or specialty equipment
- Strong mechanical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with hydraulic systems, pneumatic and hydraulic pumps, air compressors, and 12V electrical systems considered an asset
- 310T Truck and Coach Technician certification is an asset but not mandatory
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Work Schedule & Hours
- Primary work schedule to be determined
- Potential for irregular or non-standard working hours depending on operational needs, including shifts such as 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
- Flexibility with start and end times is considered an asset
Physical & Safety Requirements
- Ability to safely operate a forklift
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs or more
- Ability to work on feet for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks
- Comfortable working in a shop and yard environment
