North 52 Cabinets is seeking a skilled and dependable CNC Operator to join our cabinet manufacturing team. The CNC Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining CNC machinery used in the production of high-quality custom cabinetry and millwork.
The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining production schedules and quality standards. Experience in cabinet manufacturing, CNC operation, and CAD/CAM software is considered an asset.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC machinery safely and efficiently to produce cabinet components and custom millwork.
- Review CNC programs, drawings, cut lists, and production specifications before beginning production.
- Load and unload sheet goods and materials accurately and safely.
- Verify material type, thickness, dimensions, and quantities prior to cutting.
- Set up CNC machines, including tooling, drill bits, vacuum settings, and machine parameters.
- Monitor CNC operations to ensure accurate cuts, drilling, and machining.
- Perform quality checks on completed components to ensure they meet production drawings and company standards.
- Identify and report programming, material, tooling, or machine issues promptly.
- Make minor adjustments to programs or machine settings when required and within the scope of training.
- Label and organize completed parts to ensure accurate progression through the production process.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and inspection of CNC equipment.
- Monitor tooling condition and notify management when tools require replacement or maintenance.
- Assist with troubleshooting machine or production issues.
- Work closely with the Shop Manager, designers, and other production staff to maintain workflow and production schedules.
- Minimize material waste and report any damaged or unusable material.
- Follow all company safety procedures and use required PPE.
- Ensure all work is completed accurately, efficiently, and to North 52 Cabinets' quality standards.
- Perform other shop and production duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous CNC operating experience preferred.
- Experience in cabinet manufacturing or millwork is strongly preferred.
- Experience with CNC routers and/or CNC machining centres is an asset.
- Knowledge of cabinet construction and woodworking processes.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, production drawings, measurements, and cut lists.
- Basic understanding of CAD/CAM software is an asset.
- Strong mathematical and measurement skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to identify discrepancies before material is processed.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to safely lift and move sheets of plywood, MDF, and other cabinet materials.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to learn new equipment, software, and production procedures.
