The incumbent analyzes, reconciles, and maintains the College’s financial records. This includes preparing monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable GAAP and internal policies; performing variance analysis and supervising the AP function; collaborating with other departments and stakeholders to ensure compliance with statutory obligations, transaction-recording standards, and financial reporting requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supervise the recording, analysis, reconciliation, and maintenance of the College’s financial records including general ledger, capital asset records, and accounts payable transactions.
- Supervise, or create and record, financial transactions in accordance with the applicable GAAP and internal policies. Record adjustments as needed. Ensure complete documentation is maintained for each transaction.
- Supervise direct reports and ensure timely processing of purchases and payments including review of vendor invoices, purchase orders, and related records.
- Finalize the recording of investment transactions for the review and approval of the Assistant Controller.
- Review, reconcile and prepare journal entries for capital acquisitions and disposals (e.g., computer hardware, software, office equipment, furniture).
- Complete capital assets and amortization schedules and record month-end journal entries. Conduct random physical inventory checks for reconciliation.
- Investigate unrecorded liabilities and record journal entries for accrued expenses.
- Prepare, review and file monthly sales tax returns.
- Monitor accounting procedures relating to asset acquisitions, cash disbursements, and investments for compliance with internal controls. Support the Assistant Controller by designing and implementing procedures that enhance Department workflow.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; conduct analysis of performance against budget; and monitor compliance with GAAP and organizational policies.
- Coordinate the timely reporting of monthly revenue and collections by ensuring all accounting tasks required to prepare the reports are completed according to internal deadlines.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timely preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements, working papers, supporting schedules, and journal entries.
- Reconcile the general ledger to ensure accurate accounting of transactions.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and prepare journal entries for approval by the Assistant Controller.
- Review contracts, agreements, invoices, and purchase orders to ensure compliance with financial policies and signing authorities.
- Provide information to assist the Assistant Controller in preparing financial reporting and responding to audit inquiries.
- Prepare and review reports and other documentation in compliance with statutory requirements (e.g., ATIP).
- Contribute to ensuring internal controls by adhering to applicable policies and processes, performing reviews (e.g., reviewing purchase orders to ensure compliance with the procurement policy), providing training to other staff, identifying potential gaps, and providing input into new or updated policies and SOPs.
- Respond to questions or requests from departments related to financial and accounting information.
- Participate in accounting projects and initiatives, engaging with other departments as needed.
- Prepare documents for audit schedules, respond to auditor requests and inquiries, and support the audit process as required.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of the College’s policies, regulations, and strategies, and
- keep up to date with relevant developments, applicable legislation, trends and practices.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure the College meets and delivers on its legislative compliance requirements without delay.

- Education, Experience and Skills:
- University Degree (Bachelor) in accounting.
- Accounting Designation (CPA).
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in full-cycle accounting and corporate finance.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze, reconcile, and maintain the College’s

- Organizational skills to keep track of deadlines and ensure timely communication with team members.

- Project management skills to plan, evaluate, and implement changes to systems and processes.
- Knowledge of office/administrative and accounting software.
Salary per hour from 43-48/hr
