About the role
As Sous Chef, you’ll work closely with the Chef to deliver nutritious, high-quality meals for 60+ residents. You’ll take the lead in the kitchen when the Chef is away, overseeing production, guiding staff, and ensuring every dish meets a high standard.
This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys both hands-on cooking and kitchen leadership, and takes pride in consistency, organization, and team success.
What you bring
- Red Seal Certification (or equivalent formal culinary training)
- 5+ years of culinary experience
- Menu planning & development
- High-volume food preparation (institutional, commercial, or similar)
- Ordering & inventory management
- Staff supervision
- At least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Valid Food Safe and First Aid certifications
- Ability to work efficiently in a structured, team-based environment
- A genuine passion for cooking and serving others
Additional requirements
- Criminal Record Check clearance
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs regularly (50 lbs occasionally)
- Fire Safety Training (asset)
- Must be based in Victoria or surrounding area
