Hamilton Smith Ltd. is looking for a
G2 Gas Technician
who is interested in building a career in
commercial
HVAC and refrigeration
to join our Peterborough service team.
Previous refrigeration apprenticeship registration is not required.
We are looking for someone withtheir
valid G2 Gas Technician licence
, strong mechanical aptitude and an interest in developing their skillsin commercial HVAC/R.
This is a
commercial and industrial service position
working primarily on the road at
grocery stores,
commercial facilities and industrial buildings
throughout the Peterborough area and surroundingregion.
The successful candidate will work alongside experienced HVAC/R technicians while developing their skills incommercial refrigeration, heating, air conditioning and related mechanical systems.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assist with the service, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of commercial
HVAC and
refrigeration systems
Work on equipment including:
Commercial refrigeration systems
Rooftop units (RTUs)
Air conditioning systems
Furnaces and heating equipment
Boilers
Make-up air units and other commercial HVAC equipment
Diagnose and assist with mechanical, electrical and refrigeration-related equipment issues
Perform preventative maintenance and equipment inspections
Assist with HVAC/R installations and equipment replacements
Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals and equipment documentation
Work alongside licensed technicians and other trades
Complete service work orders and documentation accurately
Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch and service management
Follow all company health and safety procedures

Participate in the company's after-hours on-call rotation as experience and qualifications permit
Requirements
Valid G2 Gas Technician licence – required
Interest in pursuing or continuing a career in commercial HVAC and refrigeration
Previous HVAC and/or refrigeration experience is an asset
Strong mechanical aptitude
Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
Willingness to learn and develop refrigeration troubleshooting and service skills
Ability to work independently as skills and experience progress, as well as part of a team
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Professional communication and customer service skills
Valid Ontario driver's licence and ability to meet company insurance requirements
Ability to travel to customer locations throughout the service area
