Job description:
The EMS Operations Lead provides operational leadership and day-to-day management of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) operations across industrial sites, community events, and contracted projects. This role oversees staffing, scheduling, clinical quality assurance, client relations, equipment and fleet readiness, and regulatory compliance while ensuring safe, efficient, and professional service delivery.
The successful candidate is a strong leader who can independently manage operational challenges, support frontline staff, maintain client relationships, and uphold the highest standards of patient care and organizational performance.
Location: Fort McMurray – Hines Health Services Head Office
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee daily EMS operations and ensure reliable service delivery.
· Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and medical coverage for events and projects.
· Provide visible field leadership by regularly visiting project sites, supporting frontline staff, and coaching EMS personnel.
· Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and ongoing staff development.
· Ensure compliance with AHS standards, HHS policies, clinical protocols, and safety regulations.
· Review clinical documentation and support quality improvement initiatives.
· Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication, site engagement, and service follow-up.
· Conduct site audits, project walk-throughs, and quality inspections to confirm operational readiness, service quality, and compliance.
· Maintain readiness of fleet, equipment, and medical supplies.
· Promote a strong safety culture and support incident reviews, investigations, and corrective actions.
Qualifications
- Current Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) or Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) designation and good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics.
- Minimum 3–5 years of EMS experience, preferably in industrial, event, or remote-site environments.
- Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, or management experience.
- Strong understanding of AHS protocols, EMS documentation standards, and quality assurance processes.
- Valid Class 4 Driver’s License with an acceptable driver's abstract.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with scheduling platforms, EMR systems, and workforce management software would be preferred.
Working Conditions
- Combination of office, field, industrial site, and event environments.
- Participation in an on-call rotation and availability for after-hours operational support.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Ability to respond effectively to urgent operational and staffing issues.
