Paul Davis Restoration is seeking an experienced and dependable Lead Carpenter to join our reconstruction team in Saskatoon.
The Lead Carpenter is a hands-on working leader responsible for completing high-quality residential and commercial reconstruction work while directing the day-to-day activities of assigned labourers, carpenters, technicians and subcontractors.
This position is responsible for helping move projects from demolition through reconstruction and final completion. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, solving problems in the field, communicating with customers and trades, maintaining a professional jobsite, and keeping the Project Manager informed of project progress and issues.
The ideal candidate has strong residential construction experience and takes pride in workmanship, organization, safety and customer service. Previous insurance restoration experience is considered a significant asset.
Responsibilities
- Perform and oversee reconstruction work resulting from water, fire, smoke, sewer, storm and other property losses.
- Complete demolition and preparation work as required.
- Perform framing and structural repairs within the approved project scope.
- Install drywall, insulation and related materials.
- Complete drywall taping, mudding, sanding and finishing.
- Install interior and exterior doors, casing, baseboards and trim.
- Complete finish carpentry and detail work.
- Install flooring, cabinets and other finish materials.
- Perform painting and touch-up work.
- Complete minor repairs associated with reconstruction projects.
- Work with and coordinate other trades as required.
- Ensure workmanship meets company standards and applicable building requirements.
- Lead by example in productivity, workmanship, professionalism and safety.
- Train and mentor less-experienced employees.
- Monitor crew productivity and address performance or workmanship concerns
- Keep projects moving according to established schedules.
- Identify potential delays before they impact the project.
- Coordinate access, materials and trades to minimize downtime.
- Notify the Project Manager promptly of unforeseen conditions or changes to the scope of work.
- Conduct final walkthroughs of completed work before Project Manager/customer inspection.
- Ensure punch-list items are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Take appropriate progress and completion photographs.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of residential construction/carpentry experience.
- Strong general carpentry skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
- Experience with framing, drywall and finishing.
- Professional appearance and customer-service attitude.
- Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driver's licence.

Pay: $32.00-$35.00 per hour
