Busy Neighbourhood bakery cafe looking for enthusiastic, kind, p/t peoples for Summer/Winter 2026/2027 positions. Must be available, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, teas, and specialty beverages using a manual espresso machine and grinder
- Assist customers in selecting baked goods, snacks, and food items from the bakery display or menu.
- Operate POS systems such SQUARE
- Handle cash transactions
- Ice cream scooping
- Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards by adhering to proper food handling and preparation procedures.
- Provide friendly customer service by taking orders, answering questions about menu items, and addressing guest needs promptly.
- Restock bakery items, prepare simple food offerings, and ensure the café remains inviting and organized throughout your shift.
Requirements
- Communication skills; customer service skills with a positive attitude and clear communication. You must genuinely like to talk to people
- Previous barista experience or coffee knowledge
- Familiarity with POS systems such SQUARE or similar.
- Strong time management skills to handle busy periods efficiently while maintaining quality service.
- Basic math skills for cash handling, sales calculations, and retail math accuracy.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift light loads, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in food service
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.75-$21.00 per hour
Experience:
- Barista: 1 year (required)
- Customer service: 2 years (required)
Licence/Certification:
- Food Handler Certification (preferred)
