Position SummaryThe Director, Advice & Growth is responsible for leading HMECU's member-facing advice, growth, and relationship management functions across all service channels, including branch operations, HMECU Connect, wealth services, and future insurance offerings.Reporting to the Chief Operations & Digital Officer, this role is accountable for developing and executing strategies that deepen member relationships, improve advisor effectiveness, enhance the member experience, and support sustainable organizational growth.As a key leader, you will champion a culture of advice, coaching, accountability, and member-first service while providing leadership to branch, virtual, and wealth teams. You will also play a critical role in translating HMECU's Unique Value Proposition into meaningful member experiences and growth outcomes.
Job ResponsibilitiesAdvice Leadership & Growth

Develop and execute strategies that support membership growth, deposit growth, lending growth, and relationship deepening.

Establish advisor effectiveness standards across branch, virtual, and wealth channels.

Strengthen referral practices and promote a culture of proactive member engagement.

Monitor key growth metrics and partner with leaders to drive performance improvement.

Coach leaders and advisors on advice-based conversations, relationship management, and member growth strategies.
Member Experience & Value Proposition

Lead the translation of HMECU's Unique Value Proposition into consistent member experiences across all member-facing channels.

Review and enhance member journeys across branch, virtual, wealth, and future insurance channels.

Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, advisor effectiveness, and member satisfaction.

Monitor member feedback, service trends, and journey outcomes to support continuous improvement.
Branch, Virtual & Wealth Leadership

Provide leadership and oversight of HMECU's branch network, HMECU Connect, wealth services, and future insurance offerings.

Lead, coach, and support Branch Managers, the Manager of HMECU Connect, and wealth leadership.

Provide strategic direction for wealth and insurance programs while supporting business growth and member needs.

Strengthen integration between retail banking, wealth services, insurance offerings, and virtual channels.

Support workforce planning, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives.
Strategic Leadership

Participate in the development and execution of HMECU's strategic plan.

Lead and support strategic initiatives that strengthen member relationships and organizational performance.

Collaborate with leaders across the organization to achieve corporate objectives and growth targets.

Provide insights related to member behaviour, service delivery, advisor effectiveness, and emerging industry trends.
Minimum Requirements
-
Seven (7) or more years of progressive leadership experience within a credit union or financial institution.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience leading multi-channel service delivery environments, including branch and virtual operations.

Demonstrated success leading member-facing teams and achieving growth objectives.

Experience leading, supporting, or partnering with wealth management, financial planning, insurance, or investment advisory teams within a financial institution.

Strong understanding of retail banking, lending, deposits, wealth services, insurance, and relationship management practices.
-
Experience in practice management, advisor coaching, sales leadership, or member experience design.

Experience coaching leaders and developing high-performing teams.
-
Experience leading organizational change and implementing strategic initiatives.

Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
-
Familiarity with FSRA requirements, Market Code obligations, and credit union regulatory frameworks.

Demonstrated openness to leveraging technology, automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and support process workflows.
Preferred Requirements

Professional designations such as PFP, CFP, CSC, CIM, IFIC, LLQP, CHS, or other relevant wealth, insurance, or investment credentials.

Experience leading licensed wealth advisors, financial planners, or insurance professionals.

Experience working within a unionized environment.

Experience presenting to senior leadership and Boards of Directors.
