Position Summary
The General Manager is responsible for creating exceptional guest experiences by leading the day-to-day front-of-house operations at Thai Tavern, developing a high-performing team, and maintaining operational excellence.
This role has a strong emphasis on floor presence. The General Manager is expected to spend 3–5 shifts per week on the restaurant floor, serving and/or managing. Flexibility to work evenings and late-night shifts is required. Leading by example, coaching the team during service, reinforcing hospitality standards, and delivering outstanding guest experiences are fundamental to this role.

Working closely with restaurant ownership and senior leadership, the General Manager monitors labour, sales performance, guest satisfaction, and daily operations while identifying opportunities to strengthen performance and grow the business. This is a well-supported leadership position that allows the successful candidate to focus on people, hospitality, and operational excellence while building on the strong foundation already established.

Leadership, Training & Team Development
- Maintain a strong and visible leadership presence on the restaurant floor.
- Lead by example and serve as a guide, coach, and source of support for the team.

Front-of-House Operations
- Lead the day-to-day front-of-house operations to ensure smooth, efficient, and consistent service.
- Work 3–5 floor shifts per week, serving and/or managing.
- Provide visible leadership during daytime, evening, and late-night service.
- Monitor labour, staffing levels, and daily sales performance.
- Reinforce established service standards, operational procedures, and best practices.
- Collaborate closely with the back-of-house team to deliver a seamless guest experience.
- Anticipate operational challenges and provide practical solutions that support both the team and the guest experience.
Business Growth & Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to grow sales, strengthen guest loyalty, and increase business.
- Support and implement new initiatives, promotions, and creative ideas that drive guest traffic and business growth.
- Continuously look for ways to enhance the guest experience and improve restaurant performance.
- Recommend operational improvements that support the continued success and growth of the restaurant.
- Encourage innovation while maintaining the restaurant's established culture and standards.
Qualifications
- Previous leadership experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant.
- Previous General Manager experience is an asset; however, experienced Assistant General Managers or restaurant leaders who are ready to step into their first General Manager role are encouraged to apply.
- Experience managing a full-service restaurant including bar operations.
- Demonstrated passion for hospitality and developing people.
- Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing labour, sales performance, and daily restaurant operations.
- Comfortable serving and managing on the restaurant floor as part of the role.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and late-night shifts, is required.
