Chilangos Mexican Restaurant started at the Belleville Waterfront & Multicultural Festival in 2011 and opened it’s doors in 2016. It's a family-owned Mexican food restaurant recognized for its authentic dishes, great atmosphere, and excellent customer service. We're seeking Line Cooks to continue operating at our high standards and join our incredible team.
Job Overview
As a Line Cook, you’ll be a key part of our kitchen team, responsible for preparing high-quality dishes that meet our recipes, food safety standards, and presentation expectations. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment where timing, teamwork, and attention to detail are essential to delivering a great guest experience. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their craft, thrives under pressure, and enjoys being part of a collaborative kitchen in a lively Mexican restaurant setting.
Role and responsibilities:
What are some of the core activities you'll be performing?
- You'll prepare all food and products according to the Restaurant's recipes, portioning, cooking, Food Safety Guidelines and serving standards.
- You'll ensure that food comes out simultaneously and promptly.
- You'll handle, store, and rotate all products properly.
- You'll perform other opening and/or closing duties and clean and maintain the kitchen workstations in optimal conditions.
- You'll clean dishes, utensils, pots, pans, etc. If required to continue kitchen operations.
- You'll perform other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or supervisor.
- You'll inform the Kitchen Manager of any inventory shortages or situations that might violate the restaurant policies, rules, or procedures.
- You will follow instructions and perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail.[CR1]
- Assist with general cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and taking garbage and recycling out
- Other duties as assigned.[CR2]
Requirements:
What will it take to become our ideal candidate?
- You preferably have at least 6 months of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking. It's an asset if you have a Culinary certification.
- You have Food Handler Certification.
- You follow instructions and perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail.
- You are a team player, respectful, energetic, responsible, accountable, reliable, committed, and a good communicator.
- You are motivated to create the best customer experience possible.
- You remain calm and motivated in a high-volume and fast-paced environment.
- You can work in a standing position, bending and moving around for long periods and lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- You have the flexibility to week days, evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
