Forward Deployed Engineer – Pulp & Paper

Haber builds AI + IoT technology that helps pulp and paper mills cut chemical, water and energy consumption. We're hiring our first Forward Deployed Engineer in Canada.
Job Summary
You spend 2–3 week blocks inside customer mills during trials and deployments. You learn how the process actually runs, not how the P&ID says it runs, map it properly, run the trial to a measurable result, and send our engineering team in Pune the structured picture of that mill they need to build the right thing. Then you do it at the next mill.
What you'll do
- Embed on site: control room, floor, shift handovers, alongside process engineers and operators
- Map unit operations end to end — refining, digesting, bleaching, stock prep, wet end, drying, chemical recovery
- Work historian tags, DCS/PLC signals, lab and batch data, and know what bad data looks like before it reaches a model
- Run trials to an agreed baseline and success criteria, and defend the result using the mill's own numbers
- Drive adoption after go-live and own the day-to-day technical relationship at the mill
What we're looking for
- 3–8 years in operating pulp, paper, tissue or board mills — on a mill's payroll, or embedded in them for an equipment, chemical, automation, instrumentation or engineering supplier. Time on the floor matters, not whose badge you wore
- You've run or designed a trial on live production equipment
- You read a P&ID and reason about mass and energy balances
- Fluent French and English — you build trust with operators in French and work with our team in English
- Engineering degree in Chemical, Process, Mechanical, Paper Science or related
- Willing to spend 2–3 week blocks on site
Pay: $100,000.00-$135,000.00 per year
