BLUBC Education Consulting is seeking an experienced and passionate AP History Tutor to join our growing academic team as an Independent Contractor.

We are looking for teachers with proven teaching experience, a well-developed instructional approach, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed. The ideal candidate has experience teaching AP World History, AP US History, AP European History, IB History, or a combination of these courses, possesses a collection of self-developed teaching materials (such as lesson slides, practice worksheets, homework assignments, and assessments), and is committed to providing personalized instruction, meaningful feedback, and measurable learning outcomes.
Our programs include both one-on-one tutoring and small-group instruction. Most classes are delivered in person at our UBC campus, with some online teaching opportunities available when appropriate.
Candidates with experience teaching multiple AP History courses, well-developed instructional materials, and a structured homework and feedback system will be strongly preferred.

Please note:
- Our primary teaching location is our UBC campus in Vancouver.
- Final-round interviews will be conducted via Zoom.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach AP World History, AP US History, AP European History, and/or IB History in one-on-one and small-group settings.
- Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons tailored to each student's learning needs and academic goals.
- Prepare and use high-quality teaching resources, including lesson slides, practice materials, homework assignments, quizzes, and review materials.
- Assign meaningful homework after each lesson, review students' work promptly, and provide constructive feedback.
- Identify students' learning gaps and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Develop personalized learning plans and recommend appropriate academic goals based on students' performance.
- Monitor students' academic progress and provide regular written or verbal feedback to students, parents, and BLUBC Education Consultants.
- Maintain accurate lesson records and student progress reports.
- Collaborate professionally with the BLUBC academic team to support students' long-term academic success.
- Continuously improve teaching materials and instructional strategies to maximize student learning outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience teaching AP World History, AP US History, AP European History, IB History, or equivalent upper-level high school history courses.
- Strong knowledge of the College Board AP History curriculum.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proven ability to explain historical concepts clearly, develop students' analytical thinking, and prepare students effectively for AP examinations.
- Strong organizational, instructional, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to motivate students with different learning styles and academic backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the BLUBC academic team.
- A high level of professionalism, reliability, and commitment to student success.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least one year of experience teaching AP or IB History courses.
- Experience teaching multiple AP History subjects (AP World History, AP US History, AP European History).
- Experience preparing students for AP History examinations with strong academic outcomes.
- Experience teaching high school students in classroom and/or tutoring settings.
- Experience teaching both one-on-one and small-group classes.
- Ability to differentiate instruction based on students' academic strengths and learning needs.
- Additional language(s), such as Mandarin, are considered an asset.

- Can assess students' progress through quizzes, assignments, mock exams, or written evaluations.
- Maintain proactive communication with BLUBC Education Consultants regarding students' progress and recommendations.
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, initiative, and a student-centered teaching philosophy.
- Have a growth mindset and continuously improve their teaching methods and instructional materials.
- Experience teaching additional Social Sciences courses (e.g., Government & Politics, Economics, Human Geography, or Social Studies) is considered an asset.
- Follow BLUBC's teaching standards, policies, and professional expectations.
