Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Paint Department Associate to join our retail team. This role involves assisting customers with their paint and home improvement needs, managing product displays, and ensuring the department remains well-stocked and organized. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, retail experience, and a passion for providing excellent customer service. This position requires weekend work - the schedule will primarily include shifts from Wednesday to Sunday.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers in selecting paints, supplies, and related products by providing knowledgeable recommendations
- Demonstrate product features and benefits to customers, including product demos when applicable
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization within the store, including merchandising and stocking shelves
- Handle cashiering duties such as cash handling, retail math calculations, and processing transactions accurately
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries professionally and courteously
- Assist with product demos and educate customers on proper use of paint products when needed
- Maintain effective phone etiquette when assisting customers via phone or online inquiries
Skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively
- Retail sales experience, including cashiering, cash handling, and upselling techniques
- Familiarity with POS systems and retail math calculations
- Customer service orientation with a friendly attitude and professional phone etiquette
- Knowledge of merchandising, stocking, and product demonstration techniques in a retail environment
- Basic math skills for transactions and inventory management
- Experience with paint or interior decorating would be a great asset
