Are you a highly organized, detail-oriented project manager with a passion for persuasive storytelling?
Clark Wilson LLP is seeking a Communications and Marketing Specialist for a 12-month contract
with the opportunity for extension. The Marketing and Communications Specialist is a key member of our
Marketing & Business Development
team and will assist with elevating our firm’s market presence and lawyers’ practice areas.
This role involves a mix of event planning and execution, marketing support, communications and performing administrative tasks as required. The ideal candidate will be detailed orientated, a strong communicator both written and verbal and excel at project management.
What You’ll Be Doing
Communications, Content Creation and Social Media:
- RFPs, Pitches & Proposals: Develop and write comprehensive and persuasive RFPs, pitches and proposals, including tracking wins and losses for firm reporting.
- Lawyer Bios: Create detailed and engaging bios and matter/deal summaries that highlight our lawyer’s expertise, qualifications and achievements.
- Marketing Materials: Ideate, design and write visually appealing brochures, fact sheets and other collateral to promote our services.
- Digital & Social Media: Maintain website/intranet content, draft legal articles/blogs, and assist with social media strategy to boost our online presence.
- Client Communications: Draft clear, professional client communications, including event invitations, newsletters, announcements, and press releases for major firm updates.
- Directory Rankings and Awards Submissions: Coordinate firm, lawyer and client submissions for legal awards and ranking publications.
Event Management* & Logistics:

Event Planning: Plan, manage, and execute a variety of internal and external events, including seminars, webinars, client receptions, and internal activities.
- Pre- & Post-Event Strategy: Create project briefs ahead of major events and lead post-event debriefs to evaluate success, track outcomes, and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
- Event Logistics: Manage all event logistics, including venue selection, catering, registration, and on-site coordination.
- Budgeting: Track event budgets and report on expenses accurately.
- Time Management: Develop and maintain event planning timelines and checklists.
- Working Conditions:
- Flexible Hours: Working outside of normal business hours (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) will be required from time to time and during peak seasons to support select events.
- Mobility: Event support takes place across both internal office spaces and external local venues.
Administrative Tasks & Support:

Financial Administration: Process invoices, manage project/event budgets and track receipts.
- Sponsorship Coordination: Manage sponsorship logistics and act as the liaison between lawyers and external organizations.
- Database Maintenance: Update and maintain client mailing lists and marketing databases.
- General Support: Provide administrative help across other departmental marketing initiatives as needed.

How You’ll Be a Great Fit For This Role
- Education & Experience: Post-secondary education in communications, marketing, or journalism, coupled with 5+ years of relevant experience (ideally in B2B or professional services).
- Work Style: Proven ability to work independently while remaining a highly collaborative and reliable member of the team.
- Technical Proficiency: Fluent in the Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, email marketing platforms, content management systems (CMS), and social media channels and tools.
- Strong Communicator: You possess excellent grammar, punctuation, and proofreading skills, with an ability to write both short marketing copy and long-form proposals.
- Project Manager: Highly organized and detail-oriented with a proven ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
- Collaborator: Capable of building credibility with partners and working collaboratively across various firm departments.
