Job Summary
North Queens Nursing Home is a 44-bed Long Term Care Facility located in Caledonia, Nova Scotia. Caledonia is a rural community of Queens County, close to Kejimkujik National Park, and in close proximity to both the South Shore and Annapolis Valley. North Queens Nursing Home considers the needs of our residents as a whole, considering their social, emotional, spiritual and physical well-being.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Care works collaboratively with Management and Nursing teams, to provide resident-centered care.
Duties
- Lead and manage the caregiving team, providing supervision, training, and mentorship to ensure excellent resident care
- Develop and implement care plans tailored to individual resident needs, including dementia and senior care services
- Oversee medication administration procedures in accordance with healthcare standards and regulations
- Monitor resident health status, coordinate with medical professionals, and respond promptly to emergencies or changes in condition
- Manage operational aspects such as budgeting, staffing schedules, and resource allocation to ensure efficient facility operations
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local healthcare regulations and safety standards
- Foster a compassionate environment that promotes dignity, independence, and quality of life for residents
- Conduct regular staff meetings, performance evaluations, and ongoing training programs to maintain high standards of care
Requirements
- Proven experience in assisted living or nursing home environments, with a strong background in nursing or senior care
- Demonstrated supervisory experience with leadership capabilities in a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of dementia care practices and medication administration protocols
- Strong organizational skills with experience in budgeting and resource management
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff, residents, families, and healthcare providers
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion and professionalism
- Relevant certifications or licenses in nursing or healthcare administration are preferred but not mandatory

Pay: $95,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
