Title: R&D Chemist - Analytical Development
Reports to: Manager Analytical Development
We are currently hiring for an existing vacancy.
The R&D Chemist assists in the development of new pharmaceutical dosage forms, as well as in improving existing products and procedures. This position works closely with Scientists to conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests on raw materials and R&D samples (in-process, finished product, stability, preformulation, etc.), and reports the test results. The chemist maintains laboratory notebooks according to current Good Laboratory Practices (cGLP). Prepares chemical reagents and standards following standardized formulas or experimental procedures. Sets up and troubleshoots laboratory equipment and instrumentation required for tests.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Performs activities in the analytical development area to support the development of new products and analytical methodologies per departmental SOPs and ICH guidelines.
- Initiates and monitors stability programs for all new dosage forms under the Scientist’s guidance to meet ICH guidelines.
- Monitors, maintains, and calibrates analytical equipment.
- Ensures that all analytical activities comply with Good Laboratory Practices.
- Checks the availability of chemicals, reagents, apparatus, HPLC columns, solvents, etc., needed to carry out all tasks in the analytical development area.
- Provides support during the transfer of analytical methodologies to Quality Control or contract laboratories.
- Performs peer review of notebooks and data generated by other personnel in the analytical development laboratory.
- Provides analytical and problem-solving feedback based on scientific knowledge, creativity, and innovative ideas.
- Supports internal projects and external Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO) projects in alignment with Biolab’s objectives and initiatives.
- Ensures that all analytical activities comply with Good Laboratory Practices and company policies.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Master of Science or Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Pharmacy, Chemistry, or Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
- More than two years of relevant hands-on pharmaceutical experience in product development. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in analytical chemistry, including the successful operation of analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, UV/Vis, GC, and dissolution apparatus.
- Understanding of the principles used in DOE, risk-based assessment tools, Quality by Design, method validation, equipment troubleshooting, and technical transfer. Experience with Chromeleon software is preferred.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Highly motivated and capable of handling multiple projects and prioritizing work effectively.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
