South East Welding Ltd. is seeking an experienced TIG Welder & Fabrication Team Lead to join our manufacturing team.
This is a hands-on leadership role for a skilled welder/fabricator who can lead fabrication projects, maintain high quality standards, and help keep daily shop operations organized, productive, and safe. The ideal candidate will have strong TIG welding experience and the ability to guide a team, read fabrication drawings, and coordinate work from fit-up through final assembly.
We manufacture custom stainless steel and aluminum equipment for the seafood processing industry, including conveyors, processing tables, racks, platforms, guards, cookers, and other custom machinery.
Duties
- Perform precision TIG welding on stainless steel, aluminum, and other materials as required
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and fabrication prints
- Fit, assemble, weld, and finish custom equipment to detailed specifications
- Lead and support a team of welders and fabricators by providing guidance, training, and day-to-day direction
- Help organize daily shop work, assign tasks, and keep fabrication projects moving on schedule
- Operate and set up fabrication equipment such as press brakes, plasma cutters, shears, saws, and other shop machinery
- Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, tape measures, and other measuring devices to ensure accuracy
- Complete quality inspections on welds and fabricated components to ensure they meet drawings and company standards
- Coordinate lifting, moving, and positioning of equipment using forklifts, hoists, cranes, or rigging as needed
- Assist with mechanical assembly and final fitting of custom equipment
- Work with management, design, and production staff to solve fabrication or assembly issues
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following company safety procedures
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong TIG welding experience; stainless steel welding experience is required
- Aluminum TIG welding experience is an asset
- MIG welding experience is an asset
- Previous experience leading, supervising, or mentoring a fabrication team is preferred
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to custom manufacturing and fabrication processes
- Ability to read and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and shop drawings
- Experience operating press brakes, plasma cutters, shears, saws, and other fabrication equipment is an asset
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, calipers, measuring equipment, and welding equipment
- Experience with forklifts, overhead hoists, cranes, or rigging is an asset
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a busy custom fabrication environment
- Dependable, organized, safety-conscious, and able to take ownership of projects
