Full Job Description
Boyd Distributors is currently looking for a dependable, customer-focused individual to join our team in an Order Desk / Inside Sales position.
This is a fast-paced role in the construction-material distribution industry. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with customers, solving problems, building relationships, and being part of a team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting customers with orders, product questions, pricing, availability, quotes, and delivery requirements while working closely with our sales, warehouse, and delivery teams.
Responsibilities
- Answer incoming customer calls, emails, and order inquiries
- Enter and process customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Assist customers with product selection, pricing, availability, and general product questions
- Prepare quotes and follow up with customers
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, builders, and other customers
- Coordinate customer pickup and delivery requirements
- Work closely with sales, warehouse, and delivery teams to ensure orders are completed correctly and on time
- Help resolve order changes, shortages, delivery issues, and customer concerns
- Follow up on sales opportunities and help generate additional business
- Maintain accurate customer and order information
- Learn our product lines and become a knowledgeable resource for customers
- Provide professional and friendly customer service in person, over the phone, and by email
Qualifications
- Previous customer service, order desk, inside sales, or related experience preferred
- Experience in construction supply, building materials, wholesale, or distribution is considered an asset
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer and data-entry skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple customers and orders in a busy environment
- Comfortable working on the phone and communicating directly with customers
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Dependable and able to work effectively as part of a team
Building-material knowledge is an asset but is not required. We are willing to train the right person.
