Staff Plus is hiring a skilled Forklift Operator/Shipper/Receiver to join our client in a food manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safe forklift operation, accurate material handling, and ensuring operations run smoothly. Candidates should have experience in shipping, receiving, production, or inventory management.
Location: Hamilton, ON
Pay Rate: $20 to $22 per hour (as per experience)
Hours: starts between 6am & 9am - up to 10 hours - Monday to Thursday (Friday as needed)
What You'll Do:
- Load and unload trucks using a counterbalance forklift and pump truck.
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments for accuracy and quality.
- Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for shipment.
- Store products correctly, including working in refrigerated and freezer environments.
- Operate forklifts and warehouse machinery in accordance with safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and perform inventory counts as required.
- Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) inventory rotation procedures to ensure proper stock management.
- Ensure all shipping and receiving documentation is completed accurately.
- Organize and maintain warehouse storage areas for efficiency and accuracy.
- Report inventory discrepancies, damaged goods, or shipping issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all food safety, warehouse, and occupational health and safety procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Shipper & Receiver in the food manufacturing, food distribution, or food warehouse industry.
- Experience working in freezer and cold storage environments preferred.
- Must have valid counterbalance forklift and pump truck license.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control practices.
- Understanding of FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) inventory management.
- Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Experience using an ERP system is asset.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and able to work full time hours as required by this position.
