ABOUT DURHAM REGION NON-PROFIT HOUSING CORPORATION:
Durham Region Non-Profit Housing Corporation (DRNPHC) is a social and affordable housing provider in the Region of Durham providing homes to tenants with low and moderate-incomes in approximately 1200 affordable rental units throughout 19 residential properties. Our portfolio includes multiple high-rise and low-rise apartments and townhouse complexes throughout the Region.
Seeking a Building Maintenance Worker as funded through Canada Summer Jobs program.
The Building Maintenance Worker will:
- Assist in the general maintenance and beautification of our Pickering properties. The duties will include but are not limited to:
- Painting; this will mainly take place outside to include such areas as doors, railings, fencing. Inside painting will include painting common areas
- Lawn and grounds maintenance such as grass cutting, gardening, yard clean-up
- Janitorial tasks such as window washing and garbage clean-up
- Minor general repairs such as caulking
- Other duties as assigned
This position will provide practical experience in key areas such as maintenance work covering painting, grounds, janitorial tasks and participating in a team. This supports the community by ensuring the affordable housing sites are well looked after as all rental sites are embedded within the overall citizen community. This supports the local priority of providing a student career related experience.
LOCATION:
Head Office is based at 28A Albert Street, Oshawa. Youth will travel throughout our Pickering properties.

SUPERVISON AND MENTORING:
This position will be supervised by Director, Facility Operations and the Property Manager will meet with the student to organize daily work plans and to provide input and direction. The student will participate in mandatory Health & Safety Orientation prior to commencing any work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a part-time or full-time student
- Must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years old at the beginning of employment
- Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment
- Must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*; and
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations; and
- Must have the ability to arrange own transportation to and from site locations
- Must have 2 COVID 19 vaccinations
EDUCATION:
Currently enrolled in High School or Post-Secondary Education
