Responsibilities:
- Financial Management: Process offerings, manage accounts payable/receivable, and execute payroll & church rental contracts.
- Reporting & Compliance: Maintain financial records and prepare monthly reports for the Board of Trustees, yearly reports for the church and Northern Province.
- Communication: Design and distribute the weekly bulletin, congregation newsletters and prayer requests, liaise with facility renters and potential renters.
- Records Management: Maintain church registers for baptism, confirmations, marriages and funerals.
- Office Operations: Greet visitors, answer inquiries, manage the church and facility use calendar, order office and church supplies, manage inventory, manage rental inquiries and contract maintenance.
- Leadership support: Assist pastor and church boards with meeting preparation, agendas and correspondence.
Skills:
- Financial: experience with Quickbooks, payroll processing
- Software: familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, church management software, Wordpress, presentation software, Google Workspace, social media, and zoom
- Discretion: strict confidentiality regarding pastoral care matters and financial donation records
- Communication: clear, compassionate and professional written and verbal communication; proofreading with an eye for formatting consistency and tone
- Organization: ability to manage projects, timelines, and volunteer schedules independently
Applicants should have 2-3 years in office administration with experience in bookkeeping and payroll.
Applicants should have an understanding of or willingness to learn Moravian Church traditions, theology, and the Moravian Covenant for Christian Living.
Applicants must be legally able to work in Alberta, will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check, and sign a confidentiality agreement.
