Experienced Renovation Handyman – Hourly + Commission

Handyman Guelph is looking for an experienced, motivated renovation handyman to join our growing company.
This is not intended to be a dead-end construction job.
We are looking for someone who wants to grow into a position with significant independence, responsibility and increased earning potential as the company grows.
The Opportunity
The successful candidate will initially work directly alongside the owner completing handyman, repair and renovation projects.
Over approximately the next six months, our goal is to train the right person to independently operate a fully equipped company van.
Once ready, you will increasingly take ownership of your own workload, including:
- Completing handyman and renovation projects independently
- Communicating directly with clients
- Planning and picking up job materials
- Managing your daily workload
- Helping optimize your schedule based on available capacity
- Assisting with estimates and quoting
- Documenting completed work
- Tracking expenses
- Preparing and completing customer invoices
- Maintaining and organizing your company van and tools
The long-term goal is to give the right employee considerable independence while providing the customers, equipment, systems and support needed to succeed.
Compensation & Growth
This position will include a competitive hourly wage based on experience.
As you progress into independently managing jobs, the position will also include a performance-based commission structure.
We want our compensation structure to reward productivity and responsibility.
As you become capable of producing more revenue and profit for the company, you should have the opportunity to earn more as well.
Who We’re Looking For
Our ideal candidate has:
- Approximately 5–10 years of renovation or handyman experience
- Broad residential renovation and repair experience
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Good attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Excellent reliability and punctuality
- Professional communication skills
- A valid driver’s licence and responsible driving history
- Ability to work independently
- Good organizational skills
- Comfort using smartphones, email and job-management apps
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
Experience with drywall, painting, trim, doors, flooring, framing, carpentry and general household repairs is particularly valuable.
The Right Personality
We’re looking for someone who is experienced but still teachable and open-minded.
You should be comfortable figuring things out, making decisions and taking responsibility rather than requiring constant supervision.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone motivated to earn, and build something with us.
If you’re simply looking to clock in, complete assigned tasks and collect an hourly wage, this probably isn’t the right position.

Pay: $30.00-$49.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35.0 – 45.0 per week
