Position Overview
As the Pre-Owned Sales Manager, you will oversee all aspects of our used vehicle department. This isn't just a desk job—you will actively appraise vehicles, manage inventory lifecycles, structure deals, and coach our sales team to hit record-breaking milestones. You will be directly responsible for maximizing gross profit, increasing volume, and maintaining an optimal inventory turn.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management: Oversee pre-owned inventory acquisition through auctions, trade-ins, and street purchases. Utilize management software (vAuto, Provision, etc.) to price vehicles competitively based on market data.
Team Leadership & Coaching: Recruit, train, and motivate a high-performing sales team. Conduct sales meetings and ongoing sales training.
Deal Structuring & Closing: Assist sales consultants in closing deals, overcoming objections, and structuring financing, leasing and cash options to ensure maximum profitability.
Reconditioning Oversight: Partner with the service department to ensure trade-ins and auction purchases are reconditioned quickly, cost-effectively, and up to safety standards.
Marketing & Merchandising: Ensure 100% of the pre-owned inventory is accurately and attractively merchandised online with high-quality photos, videos, and compelling descriptions.
What We Are Looking For
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of automotive sales management experience, with a heavy emphasis on pre-owned operations.
Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with dealership management systems (DMS), CRM platforms (e.g. CDK), and inventory tools (e.g., vAuto).
Market Expertise: Deep knowledge of used vehicle market values, auction dynamics, and reconditioning processes.
Leadership Style: A hands-on leader who leads by example on the showroom floor, not just from behind a desk.
Credentials: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to pass a background check.
