Youth Addiction & Mental Health Services is seeking an energetic and passionate, concurrent Mental Health Therapist to join our collaborative and dynamic team. In this role, you will be providing client-centered, recovery-oriented, addiction and mental health assessment, treatment planning, psychotherapy, support, group facilitation, follow-up, and case management for youth in the Edmonton area experiencing concurrent disorders and accessing addiction services out of the Nexus location. This position offers work within a multidisciplinary team; develop, grow, and have a big impact on the life trajectory of youth and their families. In this position, your responsibilities will include screening, assessment, treatment, consultation, referral services and performing psychosocial interventions. These services are provided in an outpatient community clinic environment where the primary referral source will be from the Addiction Counsellors within the team. You will utilize a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, group) for persons experiencing addiction and/or significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment. To be successful, you will be flexible and adaptive as well as demonstrate a desire to be creative and innovative with service delivery. With the interdisciplinary nature of the role, the successful candidate will be confident and comfortable communicating and collaborating with the team and external partners. Working with complex issues relating to the addiction and mental health of children, youth and/or families will require you to build relationships and trust in meaningful ways to provide support and advocacy to the clients.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of experience providing counseling or therapy to adolescents in an addiction and/or mental health setting is required. Knowledge of adolescent developmental theory and family systems is required. First Aid/BLS. Suicide Prevention, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention are also required.
Preferred Qualifications:
A master's degree in counselling psychology is preferred. Formal training in CBT, SFT, and MI is preferred. Experience with administering psychological assessments is an asset.
