We are looking for an experienced RN who is confident with IV therapy, enjoys patient care, is comfortable working independently, and is genuinely technically savvy.

This role is a great fit if YOU:
- Are a Registered Nurse (RN) currently registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Have at least 1 year of recent, hands-on IV therapy experience
- Are confident performing peripheral IV insertions and administering IV infusions
- Have an acute care nursing background and are comfortable using your clinical judgment independently, with a specialist physician available on call
- Are comfortable administering IV, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications
- Are confident assessing, monitoring and responding to patients throughout their treatment
- Are technically savvy and comfortable learning and using multiple electronic systems
- Have experience with electronic medical records and electronic charting
- Are comfortable documenting in Accuro EMR
- Understand that documentation is completed both in Accuro and in Patient Support Program (PSP) web portals, depending on the medication and program
- Can navigate web-based portals accurately and efficiently and learn new systems quickly
- Are organized, detail-oriented and take documentation seriously
- Are energetic, dependable and able to thrive in a busy outpatient clinic
- Are comfortable working both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Understand the importance of maintaining a professional nurse-client relationship
- Are available for a combination of day, afternoon and Saturday shifts
This is an infusion and injection nursing position, and strong IV skills are integral to the role.
You should be confident with:
- Peripheral IV insertion
- IV assessment and access
- IV medication administration
- Infusion monitoring
- Recognizing and responding to infusion reactions
- Patient assessment before, during and after treatment
- Safe medication administration and adherence to treatment protocols
Excellence in intravenous therapy is a key requirement for this position.
Experience with Gastroenterology and Rheumatology is ideal, but experience with other advanced therapeutic medications is also valuable.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patients receiving advanced therapeutic medications
- Assess patients before, during and after treatment
- Administer medications by intravenous, subcutaneous and intramuscular routes, as prescribed
- Initiate and monitor IV infusions
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions and changes in clinical status
- Respond appropriately to clinical concerns and escalate when required
- Educate patients about their medications, treatment plans, potential adverse effects and follow-up care
- Provide treatment for patients with conditions including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Ulcerative Colitis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Crohn's Disease and Ankylosing Spondylitis, among others
- Complete accurate, timely and detailed electronic clinical documentation
- Document patient care and treatment in Accuro EMR
- Complete required medication-specific documentation and reporting within Patient Support Program (PSP) web portals
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records
- Communicate with physicians, pharmacies, Patient Support Programs, pharmaceutical manufacturers and other members of the healthcare team
- Follow all clinical policies, medication protocols, infection prevention and control practices, and applicable privacy requirements
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with PHIPA, PIPEDA and professional nursing standards
- Work autonomously while recognizing when additional clinical or physician support is required
- Contribute to a positive, professional and welcoming clinic environment
Schedule
Our clinic operates a combination of day and afternoon shifts.
Typical shifts include:
- Day: approximately 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Afternoon: approximately 2:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- One Saturday day shift per month
Flexibility with this schedule is required.
Location & Commute
Our experience has shown that proximity to our Barrie clinic is important for this full-time position.
Candidates who live within approximately a 15-minute commute of the clinic will be strongly preferred.
We are looking for someone who can reliably commute to the clinic for scheduled shifts and who is interested in making our Barrie location their long-term workplace.
Qualifications
Required:
- Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the CNO
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on IV therapy experience
- Strong peripheral IV insertion and infusion skills
- Acute care nursing experience
- Current CPR certification
- Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
- Excellent patient-care and communication skills
- Strong computer and electronic documentation skills
- Ability to work confidently in Accuro EMR and web-based PSP portals
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
Assets:
- RNAO membership with professional liability insurance
- ACLS and/or PALS certification
- Infusion clinic or ambulatory care experience
- Specialty pharmacy experience
- Experience with Patient Support Programs
- Gastroenterology or Rheumatology experience
- Experience with advanced therapeutic medications
