HOURS: 7.0 hours per day, 12 months per year
JOB SUMMARY:
The René Deleurme Centre (RDC) Receptionist reports to the Manager of Community & Settlement
Services and the position supports the strategic actions of the Multi-Year Strategic Plan.
The incumbent will be responsible for general office functions, providing secretarial services and
completing special projects as assigned within the RDC offices. The incumbent will perform reception
duties, including answering phone, greeting and directing visitors, room bookings, meeting room setup
and working with custodial staff to ensure room readiness, mail and courier distribution, accept
deliveries, and support inventory practices.
As a RDC Receptionist, this customer service-oriented professional will provide exceptional reception
and clerical services to all staff, students, and visitors who contact or visit RDC. The incumbent will
respond to significant volumes of calls and visitors daily, in a busy office setting while completing
various clerical/secretarial functions.
The incumbent must have the ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks with tact and diplomacy. They
will manage food orders, visitor attendance tracking as well as perform other related duties. The
incumbent will often work alone and therefore must show initiative and be able to work effectively
independently. They must have the ability to handle difficult situations and demonstrate good problem
solving and judgment skills.
The incumbent must have keen attention to detail, enjoy performing clerical functions and be able to work
independently while demonstrating highly developed data management and organizational skills and good
problem-solving skills. The incumbent will have a clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality and
privacy.
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE):
- Completion of post-secondary training in secretarial or office administration. A combination of education
and experience may be considered.
- Strong clerical skills and knowledge of office procedures and systems.
- Intermediate to advanced computer and keyboarding skills, including MS Office. word processing,
spreadsheets, and email. Previous experience using databases preferred.
- Organize and maintain electronic files and financial records.
- Ability to work efficiently in busy office environment with many interruptions.
- Good public relations and communication skills.
- Ability to work as an effective team member.
- Knowledge and/or experience with operation of switchboard may be required.
- Current first aid training is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written skills are required. Other LRSD Community Languages is an asset.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
