The Sales Associate / contractor Sales is responsible for providing prompt, courteous and efficient service to customers. Advise customers on appropriate merchandise and related items; processing transactions (cash, credit card, debit card) using retail software, and quoting contractor projects.
Use current price lists and information when negotiating large orders and refer to contractor sales manager for approval outside the list as required.
Provide quotations to customers and process successful sales orders. In some cases estimate lumber materials for new builds and renovations.
Process special orders for non-stock or out of stock items. Record customer requests for product and follow-up with customer when product arrives at the store.
Be familiar with items in stock, yard inventory, including product use and operation as its related to lumber and building materials.
Liaise with the yard manager to ensure the product is delivered in a timely manner and to meet the customer needs.
Track all sales activities (follow-up calls and job leads) in order to meet or exceed team sales targets.
Members of the contractor sales associate team are to ensure area is clean and orderly.
Participate in ongoing personal training and development as requested by the company. Assist in training of other sales associates.
Industry experience is an asset and wage will reflect experience.
