This position is responsible for is responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies and standards, conducting audits and reviews of existing health and safety policies, advising workers on safety procedures, conducting training sessions, and addressing incidents and injuries.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
· Participate and monitor all accidents, incidents and near misses.
· Sit on the Joint Health & Safety Committee
· Be a member of the Accident Review Committee
· Be familiar with all Federal/Provincial and Municipal regulations.
· Be familiare with all USDOT Regualtiions
· Be knowledgeable in setting up requirements for USA Compliance
· Understand IFTA requirements and Quarterly Submissions
· Co-Host monthly meetings with the management team and discuss accidents and claims.
· Create SOP’s where necessary.
· Host quarterly safety meetings with the Ontario and Quebec regions with drivers.
· Site visits with various Terminals.
· Sit on any safety boards the company deems necessary.
· Looks for ways to increase the company’s telematics.
· Work in conjunction with all teams
· Lead the team in audimation
· Lead the 3 regional safety managers to ensure they are compliant
· Ensure our safety ratings in each region is below the industry standards.
Any other work that the Senior Management Team finds necessary.
Education (Theoretical Training):
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Engineering or related discipline preferred
· Minimum 5 years of experience in a management role within the Transportation Industry.
· Hold a current AZ or Class 1 license for a minimum of 5 years.

· Proven experience as safety manager
. Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
· Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies
· Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
· Excellent organizational and motivational skills
· Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
· Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
· BSc/BA in safety management or relevant field is preferred
· Valid qualification in occupational health and safety
