Job Summary
Celtic Contracting is actively seeking experienced and responsible Class 1A Drivers. Must have experience in hauling Super B's, Gravel Trailers, and Lowboys. Applicants must be able to work with a flexible schedule, long hours, and some weekend work. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial driving, excellent communication skills, and the ability to safely transport goods across designated routes. The individual must be self sufficient and able to work alone or with little to no supervision.
Responsibilities
- The ability to safely operate commercial trucks to transport goods and materials.
- Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment and materials.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, and records of deliveries.
- For the housekeeping and cleanliness of the unit that is being operated.
- Follow designated routes efficiently while adhering to schedules.
- Obey all traffic laws, regulations and company policies while operating.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed during operation and loading/unloading processes.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving, with experience in gravel and/or equipment hauling.
- Knowledge of heavy haul operations and heavy equipment operation is a plus.
- Familiarity with various types of commercial vehicles such as tractor-trailers, end dumps, lowboys and fuel trucks.
- Mechanical knowledge for basic troubleshooting and vehicle maintenance awareness.
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles confidently.
- Experience with freight handling, load & unload procedures, and proper load security.
- Strong communication skills for effective coordination with dispatch team.
- Ability to handle different cargo types including heavy equipment or loose materials such as gravel or dirt.
- This position is ideal for individuals with a solid background in commercial driving who are committed to safety and professionalism on the road. The applicant must also be able to work in an alcohol and drug free environment and contain a valid Canadian CDL with a clean drivers abstract.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
